"I hate being asked when checking in at an airport if I packed my bags my self – it is most embarrassing to admit in front of a queue of perfect strangers that I can no longer afford to keep a Valet."

Following the guidelines below should help your suit to develop well with age. With a good choice of cloth suits can last over ten years and sometimes much longer.
A jacket should be hung on a hanger that fits well into the shoulders to fully support them. We deliver all of our suits on velvet hangers to prevent the suit from slipping around. Clothing should not be stored in direct sunlight as it can cause the cloth to fade. Garments should not be crammed into a wardrobe, they should have some space between them: cedar wood should be used inside to deter moths.
After each wearing a suit should be aired, by hanging it outside of a wardrobe over night, preferably in a well-ventilated area. A suit should be worn for one day and rested for no less than two days before being worn again.
White, light colour and velvet suits should always been stored under a protective covering.
We encourage all of our bespoke customers to bring their suit back for a complimentary service after the first few wears (one-three months) so that we can help the suit to develop. Hand-made suits, tailored in artisan cloth continue to mold to the customer and adapt with body heat as they are worn. We take this opportunity to remold the suit and make any required improvements.
Dry cleaning is strongly discouraged! Cleaners who know how to look after a bespoke suit are few and far between. Do not forget that wool is effectively the same as hair and soaking it in chemicals dries it out, makes it lose its vibrancy and become brittle. Customers requiring their suits cleaned or refreshed are advised to bring them to us. We start by checking the buttons, zips, and then check the lining and the seams. We spot clean any stains, then steam clean, sponge and press them. We also offer invisible mending when required. Local alteration tailors can do irrevocable damage to a hand-made garment. Any alterations should always be done by our skilled alterations tailors.
